I love fake backgrounds for glass enclosures...they just bring something more to the display.
Unfortunately this is mainly a Exo Terra thing when brought of the shelf...or its a case of DIY.
Expanding foam, kingspan, polystyrene...coated with layers of grout, matt varnish and eco earth to finish it all off...and then the airing to allow for the fumes to dissipate. It can be a lengthy, daunting and to a degree, expensive..project to undertake for those that are new to the game.
So for those that do this.....i admire you! your patients and dedication shines when undertaking such a project!
And then you have people like me....*blows raspberry*.
For those that would like an idea for something similar and cheap but with barely a fraction of the time....read on.
Please bare in mind that there are loads of great alternatives available, just think outside the box
My background for my crestie project will be......wallpaper!!
Such a variety is available now a days, ranging from a arty style to what i have selected which is a repeating photographic design.
At about £7 a roll from ebay, various styles of brick pattern available...its really not all that bad! Plus i will only be using a fraction of what the roll contains...i'm already getting some pinched of me later in the year lol
