No, no! what they do do however is purchase 10x 3ft poles of bamboo for your enclosures!! Squeeeee!! :D Just so happens i have a nice little upgrade for Kyoko from her 45cm cube!
Project decorate Kyoko's new digs is a go go!
I used 4 pieces cut to size in this 45x45x60 Exo terra.
Under the log (stick) bridge is Kyoko's new lay box with a beautiful Wandering Jew (Zebrina pendula) placed infront with the off cuts of bamboo to shield it from obvious view. I'm still using Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) as my main live but i am now leaning more heavily fake based. This enclosure contains 1 Peace lily, 2 wandering jews and then the rest is fake. Most of the fake has been ordered from ebay via China (if you don't mind a 2 week wait then they are brilliant and cheap!) with the pink flowers coming from the Range at a bargain price of £1.30 for a bunch (contains 6 flower heads a bunch)! I just pulled the bunch apart so i could scatter *artistically* :P .
Now...substrate...
As some of you will remember, i WAS trialing a table protector cut to size in each of the viv's...wipe on, wipe off, so to speak! They were great for the first few months! Unfortunately, after a while, no amount of cleaning will get rid of all the smell from the poop and they began to retain odour. i still think they were better than kitchen roll mind...but it does appear to have a shelf life and would need completely changing a few times a year. Now i am using an eco earth and bark mix (2:1) in each of the setups...and i have to say, i do like it! Still not planted and keeping plants potted...it does have a nice look and of course, help with the humidity (more so as most the plants are now fake!).
HOWEVER! my setups now no longer match :P
So what? some of you cry.....i NEED matching, i LIVE for themes! Roll on 3 more projects!!!! I have 6 bamboo lengths left, fake stuff ready to order from China come payday and a cunning idea on how to suspend the off cuts for further climbing rather than being unused decor! I'll keep you posted ;)
